Garlic Honey Shots
There is nothing worse than getting knocked down with the flu! It comes on fast and hard and usually lingers for at least 10-14 days for me since I have an autoimmune disease.
Every time I have gotten the flu in the past, I also ended up with a secondary sinus infection and needing a round of antibiotics. But my most recent battle with the flu was different, because this time I had an arsenal of natural remedies to combat the virus as soon as it hit.
So instead of being sick for two weeks, I was better in six days, and I never developed a secondary sinus infection.
One of the natural remedies that I began was garlic honey shots. Garlic has many antiviral and antimicrobial properties, making it a superfood in the world of natural remedies. Honey also has many antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties making it the perfect compliment to garlic in fighting off viral infections.
Some people like to batch up a big jar of honey and raw garlic, but I haven’t tried that yet. I just made individual shots 2-3x a day while I was sick.
Here’s the recipe for my garlic honey shots. Just two simple ingredients, ones that I will never be without during cold and flu season!
Garlic Honey Shots
Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic
- raw honey
Instructions
- Take one clove of garlic and dice it as finely as you can. It should yield about 1.5 teaspoons of garlic.
- Let the chopped garlic sit for 5-8 minutes to oxidize so it release its full medicinal effects.
- Place the chopped garlic on a small spoon and pour raw honey on top of it to cover all of the garlic.
- Swallow the the spoonful (without chewing) and chase it with some water and crackers.
- Do this 2-3x a day when fighting an active infection.
